Lanaz To Use Honeywell Technology to Modernize Iraqi Refinery to Produce Cleaner-Burning Fuels
Honeywell announced today that the Lanaz Company will use UOP modular naphtha hydrotreating and fixed-bed Platforming process units to upgrade its refinery in Iraq so it can produce more cleaner-burning transportation fuels. The project marks the first use of UOP modular technology in the country and will help Lanaz comply with increasingly strict specifications for fuel products.

Honeywell announced today an agreement with The University of Texas at Austin that will enable the lower-cost capture of carbon dioxide emissions from power plants and heavy industry. Honeywell will leverage UT Austin’s proprietary advanced solvent technology to create a new offering targeted at power, steel, cement and other industrial plants to lower emissions generated from combustion flue gases in new or existing units.

CVR Energy Selects Honeywell Technology for Sustainable Fuels Project Study in Coffeyville, Kansas
Honeywell today announced that a CVR Energy, Inc. subsidiary has selected Honeywell UOP Ecofining™ technology to study conversion of seed oils, tallow and white/yellow greases into renewable diesel fuel at its facility in Coffeyville, Kansas. CVR Energy is currently evaluating the conversion of an existing hydroprocessing unit at the plant to a single-stage Ecofining unit for the production of approximately 11,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel and jet fuels.

Honeywell announced today SK Innovation and Energy, a Korea-based energy refining company, has selected Honeywell UOP for a feasibility study to retrofit SK’s hydrogen plant with carbon capture. SK will explore capturing and sequestering 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) from existing hydrogen production assets at its refinery in Ulsan, Korea using a range of Honeywell UOP technologies.

Honeywell Technology Enables First Jet Flights with Sustainable Aviation Fuel Produced by Microalgae
Honeywell announced today its UOP Ecofining™ technology supported the world’s first jet flights using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced from algal oil.
Two commercial flights, which were recently completed in Japan, used a blend containing renewable jet fuel created from microalgae feedstock using the Ecofining process. The commercial flights were the first use of the new ASTM D7566 Annex 7 standard for fuel used in commercial jet engines, and were carried out by Japan Airlines on an Airbus A350-900, and All Nippon Airways on a Boeing 787-8.

PBF Energy Selects Honeywell Technology for Potential Renewable Diesel Fuel Project.
Honeywell today announced that PBF Energy Inc., an independent petroleum refiner and supplier of transportation fuels, would use Honeywell Ecofining™ technology for a potential renewable diesel project at its Chalmette Refinery in Louisiana. PBF is currently evaluating the conversion of an idle hydrocracking unit at the plant to a single-stage Ecofining unit that if built would produce 20,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel fuel. A final investment decision by PBF is expected in the coming months.

Honeywell today announced OOO ZapSibNeftekhim, a subsidiary of PJSC Sibur Holding, will revamp one of its facilities in western Siberia that uses Honeywell UOP C3 Oleflex™ technology to increase propylene production. The revamp will enable the Russian company to increase production of propylene by more than 8 percent, to 561,000 metric tons per year, to meet the growing demand for propylene derivates used in polymer production.
